A rollover. A recovery. A podium finish.
André Rodrigues and Ricardo Porto Nunes claimed third place overall at the Baja Portalegre 500 delivering an outstanding performance at the wheel of the Segway Super Villain SX20T, highlighted by a superb comeback.
A result that carries special meaning for Segway Powersports in the face of the adversity encountered, demonstrating the ability to react, recover and keep fighting when the road gets tougher. #fearnoplace
But the story didn’t end there.

With determination and resilience, André Rodrigues and Ricardo Porto Nunes were outstanding throughout the most important national off-road race, now in its 40th edition, completing the roughly 500 kilometres at one of the fastest paces. Even after going off the track and rolling over, the Segway duo got back into the race to finish in third place, a time that could have secured a masterful victory at the legendary Baja de Portalegre.
Different teams, models and ambitions came together in a participation defined by varied challenges and a common drive to overcome limits.
Bernardo Sousa and Nuno Matias Guilherme were invited to fly the Segway Powersports Portugal colours at the Baja Portalegre 500’s 40th edition, producing highlight moments and attracting maximum attention from the public over the various days of racing in Portalegre.
At the wheel of the Super Villain SX20T, the duo faced one of the toughest routes on the Portuguese calendar. Although the debut ended before the finish, it added another chapter to the competitive journey of Bernardo Sousa, a renowned name in international rallying who has raised the brand’s image and visibility across Portugal.

Tiago Evaristo and Vítor Lopes finished as the second-highest Segway crew in the event, underlining their competitiveness on a route where stamina, consistency and the ability to manage every kilometre make all the difference.

Also Micael Vitória and Fábio Pratas, brought the Super Villain to the tracks of Portalegre, adding to a line-up shaped by demanding conditions and a wide variety of terrain. After a standout performance in the prologue, broken steering following a hit put an end to the race for Segway Powersports’ “junior” driver.

Flying the flag for Segway Powersports UK, Edward Todd and James Hometravelled to Portugal to mark the brand’s first international entry at the Baja Portalegre 500. Their presence underlined the wide reach of Segway’s participation and the standing of the Super Villain SX20T, which excelled at one of the most emblematic stages in Portuguese off-road racing.

Segway’s presence went beyond the Super Villain range. The Segway Villain SX10 also took part in the Baja Portalegre 500, with two crews in action: Joana Silva and Nuno Silva, and Joel Dias and Ricardo Flores.
The involvement of these crews boosted the brand’s presence at the event, testing different models and setups in an environment where the toughness of the terrain is a key factor.
In a race like the Baja Portalegre 500, every result starts long before the start line.
Behind every crew was a dedicated support team, ready to tackle the demands of a race where mechanical durability, adaptability and the bond between driver, co-driver and vehicle make all the difference.

The 40th edition of the Baja Portalegre 500 brought a mix of challenges, experiences and results for Segway. From the podium finish of André Rodrigues and Ricardo Porto Nunes to the efforts of the other crews, every run added to a presence defined by competitiveness, endurance and the will to push beyond limits, for drivers and machines alike, in this case the Segway Powersports machines.
Portalegre termina. A ambição continua.
